Guangxi Province
Rongshui
Rongshui County, which is part of Guangxi Province, is one of China’s most stunningly beautiful areas. Its karst topography, which features imposing, ethereal peaks dotted throughout the landscape and surrounded by unspoilt rice terraced valleys, invokes a sense of sublime tranquility. Our programs take full advantage of the area to provide students with a particularly memorable experience.
Rongshui is rich with minority culture and the area offers 100% Miao minority villages which offer unique opportunities for cultural immersion and eye opening community service experiences. Many of the programs we run here are for CAS based itineraries. This location offers a wide variety of truly impactful service projects: one of our most productive long term service projects is in Rongshui!
There are river kayaking, hiking and navigation lessons. Students will have the opportunity to find their way through trails dotted with karst scenery. We kayak on the Bei River, which weaves its way through the mountainous region. Kayaking trips typically last between two and four hours. One of our hikes makes its way to a large waterfall, where students can swim in clear mountain water. We run zip line and abseiling near the waterfall as well.
Activities in Rongshui may include:
- River Kayaking
- Abseiling
- Zip line
- Plunge pool swimming
- Bamboo raft building
- Temple hike
- Jungle trekking
- Community Service
Yangshuo
Yangshuo is best known for its spectacular karst landscape, meandering rivers and green valleys. The area is rich in culture and provides a wide range of activities in one of China’s most magnificent regions. Due to the topography of the area Yangshuo provides an excellent base for outdoor sports and rock climbing is especially well developed here. In addition to other activities such as cycling, hiking and camping, Yangshuo also provides opportunities for cultural interaction and minority culture experiences.
Yangshuo is one of our primary sites for conducting International Award programs. Award programs in the area often involve mountain biking, which allows students to venture deep into sleepy valleys where karst peaks are shrouded in cloud and time seems to be of no importance.
Activities we run in Yangshuo include:
- Biking
- Hiking
- Rock climbing
- Camping
- Cultural experience
